First Kemps Ridley nest of the Season!

Steve found the first nest of the season for South Padre Island!
It was a nesting Momma and gave us 98 eggs to protect.
Hatchling release would be  approximately June 4th!

In the 1970's we had a Meyers Manx dune buggy and had great fun on the Oregon beaches

fastforward to 2012 and we have not progressed much-- but the buggy is faster and there are more beaches to drive----

Success! Steve found his first nest of the season!

We are having a banner season for Turtle nests! The present count is 38 nests at the halfway point of the nesting season. The total for last year was 41 so we may have a record year.

Texas Master Naturalist field trip

Joyce and Steve enjoyed a trip to the Davis Mountains for some field excursions into this unique habitat. We took guided trips into areas not available to the public in some areas of the Nature Conservancy preserve.

We enjoyed the animals of the area including the Javalinas that joined Harley for his breakfast!

Alaska trip

Joyce, Steve, and Harley traveled to Alaska and beyond for the summer- we found the scenery and wildlife to be awesome. We traveled over 12,ooo miles in the Van, plus ferry,stern wheeler,train,Cruise ship,motor coach, and airplane travel (I would guess more than around the world)

But oh the Denali wilderness is spectacular.

Wonderful way to spend our 50th wedding anniversary! We did come across a plane that had just crashed, we were able to help the pilot get emergency help with an emergency beacon we had borrowed from Steves brother

Fishing in South Texas

If Harley is upset by missing out on this fishing trip he doesn't show it. He would really prefer having small Piggy Perch to chew on however.

Butterfly Girl

Joyce has a new hobby of raising Monarch Butterflys. Harley has taken a interest also!
